In addition to whatever moral problems lying causes, its practical effects are obvious. No one believes you later when it's important to you that they do.
For example, last night in the room Cindy admitted to lying about the whole Bob and Facebook thing. When I called her on it, she tried to weasel out of it but really just affirmed it. There was no "whoops, I didn't mean THAT" or other feeble attempt at denial, just the reflexive "don't speak to me" mantra.
If Cindy wants to see where lying leads, just look at Zeeke. He lies frequently, badly, and without remorse. So, of course, no one now believes anything he says about anyone.
And no one's fooled by "I swear on my life (THIS time)" oaths. We all read Aesop's "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" fable when we were children.

ReplyDelete*One* article about Zeeke equals "rants"? Ooooookay. And what does his 20,000+ unrequitted insults at me over the past five years say about *his* "jeliousy" of me?
But semi-seriously, can you list some qualities about Zeeke that would cause jealousy? When Ham was asked what she liked about him, she first listed "a good cook." I'm mediocre at cooking, so sure, I'd rather have his abilities than mine. But jealous? No, it's just not that important to me.
When compiling your list, please note that I don't consider getting "piss drunk and tearing up pussy" as an admiral trait, nor the ability to cuss reasonably well.

ReplyDeleteRose, Zeeke, et al, seem to be doing a fine job of trashing Bob for what they see as his flaws. As to any perceived "lies" by Bob, I don't take the word of people who are his bitter enemy. He and Rose, for example, have been going at each other for more than 20 years. So, frankly, I don't believe anything either says about the other.
As to any ugliness I see Bob commit, I've told him directly, publicly, repeatedly, and forcefully that I strongly disagree with it. Have *you* done the same with your buds?

Please feel free to submit an article to Ugly about some positive, life-affirming topic, or even humor, science fiction, etc. I've written many of those. OR... just continue to obsessively whine away about ME.

It seems like you know Billy in real life because he shows precious little of "funnier, nicer" in the room.
As to "better looking," beauty, as they say, is in the eye of the beholder. So, I take no offense at that. I think, for example, that Beth is physically gorgeous. But I know guys who honestly think she's skinny and plain. Different strokes...
As to the number of friends, I'm not sure what that has to do with the positive qualities I requested (nor does looks, for that matter). There's no way to determine that outside of the room. Inside of the room, I think most of the regulars have 5-10 people who love them, 5-10 who like them, 5-10 who despise them, 5-10 who dislike them, and 100 who are totally indifferent.
You didn't mention one aspect of Billy for which I'm at least somewhat envious. He's a father, and by all accounts a good one. I was never blessed with a child of my own, and it was one of my main goals in life.

ReplyDeleteThanks Bob! Except for Bonnie-Zeeke, I really don't know who started what. I was around for that one and know that Zeeke initiated it and bashed Bonnie relentlessly.
I gather several of the other continuing fights started in other rooms and migrated to ours. I think the better response to being attacked is to ignore it, but I can't begrudge Bonnie for responding as she has.

ReplyDeleteI don't know if you knew, darling, but the Zombies pay fairly high monthly dues to be part of Zeeke's cult. Part of the dues go to an outsider to actually read the blog, and then email any articles about them to Zeeke and the Zombies.
That way they only read the email, NOT the blog. Similarly, any comments they have are sent thru the outsider, who posts them.

Their families actually know them ..not just words on AOL. Their opinions are based on the love they give, the kindness they share and more importantly, their actions towards those they love. Their families are smart enough to not base their opinions on what total strangers write on AOL or blogger.

I do believe Rose has to have a background check to become a licensed pratical nurse. She is going to have a lot of explaining to do. Just maybe the things she has done to people will come back to haunt her.
